So as some of you probably already know, when you turn on your phantom, you bring your sticks down and towards each other or down and away from each other, and you can also do this to shut the phantom down but much faster than if you were just holding down on the throttle. Anyways, if you're in the air and do this, your phantom will fall from the sky like a rock. However, I thought it would be fun to use this quick shut off to land while hovering a few inches away from my landing spot to help prevent tipovers on windy days and if you're coming in with a low battery and it's coming in too fast for a safe landing, you can do this to prevent tipovers this way as well. I'm sure there's other good uses for this landing method, but these are the ones I tested so far. yes I know I fell off the landing spot the second time, but to be fair, it was a pretty small area to land on, but on the grass, it's very easy to do.
