Fpvlr v2, can I fly without booster battery turned on ?

I just recieved and fitted the fpvlr v2 range booster. It works great, can now get down to 15ft height at 11500ft dist with about 1,000000 trees between me and it.

I am wondering if there is anything wrong with doing short flights without the wifi sunhurns booster battery connected ?
Or having the controller on without the wifi booster battery on or connected ?
