I've been doing a little reading and research and I'm thinking about getting a recorder. Possibly this one http://www.getfpv.com/lumenier-dx600-dvr.html# . I'm wanting to know if the recording that it does will have the flight telemetry on it. Also if any of you have comments on this model or can recommend a particular model it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi,
Any DVR at the ground end will record exactly what you see on your monitor. I'm assuming you're using an iOSD or something similar? I purchased one from Helipal about 8 or 9 months back and have it set up so that it just starts recording everything as soon as its powered up. It is very useful for flight verification (proof) and is also a very handy back up in case you crash somewhere. Mine is set up so I can switch the plugs over and it will replay immediately through my monitor so I can get a much closer fix on where it went down. If you get any interference on your monitor from say exceeding the range of your FPV set up or flying behind trees etc it will record that too. Make sure you set yours up to loop record so it overwrites previous data. You will find you don't use it terribly much but it's a great thing to have all the same.

To be honest I didn't check your link to see which one you were looking at but I think they all come out of the same Chinese factory. Mine just says DVR Recorder in that typical font the Chinese use on EVERYTHING but it's a great device and has its own remote controller too. I'll check your link and get back to you.

Just checked out the unit you're looking at. That looks fantastic, If I didn't already have one, that would be the one I'd buy for sure. Having the 2.5' monitor will be real handy.

I have this DVR and got it from FPV.com. No issues with it, works great. It records telemetry/IOSD data just the same as displayed on the monitor. I am using a IRC Duo5800 which has 2 outputs, one I use for the monitor and the other for the DVR. I shopped awhile for the DUO and couldn't find a deal, now FPV.com has it for $149.

PhantomPhreak... is it possible for this unit to display the video feed on it's LCD while it's recording? I use goggles, and I find that a lot of times people with me want to watch, so I have to give up the goggles. If these DVRs can display the video while it's recording, then I could just get the people to watch that instead - and I wouldn't have to waste any flight time without goggles.

Back on topic a bit... I was previously looking at this DVR below, but I couldn't get confirmation in a different thread about whether or not it can play the video back while recording as well, so I haven't pulled the trigger and bought one yet.

It does display the video while recording but it is a small screen plus clogged up a bit with IOSD data. You might want to make a hood for it. I use mine as a back up FPV monitor if my Lilliput was to fail. The one referenced from focal rc is the same recorder in different package. There are many like this and the only difference is firmware.

Perfect. Thanks for confirming that. Time to pull the trigger now!

Awesome . Thanks for your quick replies. I will probably go ahead and pull the trigger and buy this one. And yes I am using an iOSd mini

Also just wondering where do y'all put the recorder? I have my monitor, I'm using the Black Pearl . I have it mounted to my transmitter and I'm not sure where I would like to keep the dvr.

Don't know about you guys, but the main reason I added a cheap DVR is b/c I lost a P1 once before and never found it. Not that my P2 is rigged up with about $2k worth of "stuff", I built a cheap ($25) DVR from a device I found on ebay. I just had to splice some A/V cables. Works fine, but I need to make it portable (been using an extension cord for my test flight(s). Any recommendations on a battery? Requires 12V. I'm thinking there must be a lipo that would work?

Any help appreciated.

I also use the Lumenier dx600 it's a great unit. Here's a video I posted in another thread.

Don't forget to shut the osd off on the camera that's what you're seeing in red at the top of the screen.
