Follow Me App doesn't work with iPhone 5s

When I go into Follow Me mode with my iPhone 5s the P3P continues to hover and slowly increase altitude instead of follow me. Any suggestions?

Does you phone have a GPS lock?

Yes, I have lock. Message on camera window says Follow Me Mode Initiated and the little map window in the bottom corner of the camera window shows my position moving relative to the drone which stays stationary except that the drone keeps increasing altitude in small steps of about 2 feet at a time.

What was your bird's elevation? I've only done one short Follow Me (with an iPad–same app) and I recall there was a minimum altitude which was fairly high.
