Flying without gimbal attached?

New to flying my standard 3 and crashed. I broke the grey gimbal mounting plate on bottom of drone and the grey and black wifi wires. I replaced the wires and am good to go. But the mounting bracket is on a slow boat from china. I have no idea when it will arrive.
So my guestion is can I fly my drone line of sight without the gimbal/camera attached? Or is a all parts are interconnected and it's all or nothing?
Would like to practice takeoffs and landings etc. do not need camera to do that.

I did the same thing on my 3A. Flew just fine. Obviously no video

i 3d printed a mount so that i can use a smart phone where the gimbal was i made it where i can still use the app but not have the big gimbal there all the time. only use the phone wjen i want a video
