Flying in the Rain

I'm glad the brilliance of my posts have shone thru. It's my claim to fame. Being named after a ST character!! LOL

+1. The motor windings are coated and won't short from a bit of rain or snow.
The ESCs on the other hand won't like too much moisture sneaking in through the vents and the motor bearings might suffer if they're lacking in lube.

Correct. I have put new brushed hobby motors in water and run it to break it in as is the protocol. You don't need to do this with brushless but they can run in water. Probably not recommended. :?

The video, Brushless ROV Thruster Test #1, is worth watching especially because of what happens at 3:47... :lol: :lol: :lol:
 
I flew in the snow for the first time about a week ago the Phantom come back dry. I think the wind coming off the props keeps snow away from the Phantom well enough as long as its not the really wet heavy snow. I wouldn't fly in rain though
