I just wanted to let everyone know about my recent experience. I got permission from the owner to fly on a Farm / Winery and saw that it was in special use restricted airspace. I saw that this was due to the Navy base near by. I called and they transferred me to the radar tower. They asked where I was and what I was doing. I explained....they told me the jets were not flying and authorized it. They also said that they appreciated the call and to be safe but have fun! It was a good experience and I encourage more people to not be afraid to call for permission instead of just completely writing off the possibility to fly in areas like that. Do things by the book, be friendly, and be safe and it will pay off.
