i was told that both the RC and AC need to have the same firmware, when I went to look the RC was 3. Something and the AC was 1. Something, is that normal or should they both start with the same number?

The firmware versions should not match.

I wasn't even about to get a a
DGi app on my Macbook pro or my windows 10.

Don't understand what would be the difference than using a Samsung Note 5 ?

You should install the firmware using DJI GO like this:

That is too much for me to keep up with.
If it won't update threw my smartphone. I don't know if I will get it upgraded.

It'll update using any device that can run DJI GO. It's not tough to do. Just follow the easy steps in the video above.

My instructions said to use the DGI go app.
I seen on the Google store there was a DGI 4 app.

It didn't say to use the DGI 4 app.

When I 1st got it last week and had it hooked to my controller. It showed to hook it to the P4 and it did a upgrade to the P4. Said it was upgrading the battery.
It wouldn't do a upgrade to the controller.

Then sunday when I flew it, it said it needed to do a upgrade to the controller.
Tripped me out.
Had me to cut my controller off and back on.
