The FC40 is a fantastic platform for new enthusiasts in the hobby world. Often times this leads to human errors, damage, loss and even injuries.

This article should be used as a general guide to help pilots ensure the safest flights possible. Please use it, change or add to it.

This is a work in progress checklist and is intended for FC40 pilots as the procedures vary somewhat from other versions, mostly due to the included camera. Please keep in mind this was written for an IOS device, however it should remain generally the same on an Android device, modifying the paths to achieve the same result.
I included the compass calibration in the checklist, use at your discretion.

I based this checklist from the Phantom vision checklist.

    Aerial - Ground Pre-Flight Inspection:

Plan emergency landing area accounting for the above
Open DistancePinner app on iPhone and calculate maximum safe flight distance from current position

    Aircraft Check:
    Accessories Secured
    Props inspected -flaws/debris/Nuts Verified tight

Operate S1 switch 6-10 times to initiate Compass Calibration (solid orange light)
    Perform Compass Calibration
Ensure single green intermittent LED flash
Double check for nearby obstructions, people, power lines, etc.
    Start engines
    Start iPhone countdown timer
Let it hover in front of you
    Evaluate Phantom behavior and patterns
