My FC 40 has flown away, and the chances of retrieval are slim to nothing. I was thinking of the Phantom 2, but on DJI's web-site, it states their is no app. If I were to outfit it with a GoPro 3, would I need that app?
Thank you

No, the P2 doesn't have an app. For FPV flying, you use a video transmitter on the P2 (the "ImmersionRC 600" is popular), which takes a video signal from the GoPro's USB port and transmits it back to you, and use an FPV monitor (or goggles) with a video receiver to receive the signal. Many people also add a "mini iOSD", which overlays telemetry data (height, distance from home, bearing to home, battery level, etc) onto the video feed.
