Faster Battery Drain shooting in 4K

Maybe its me because I don't normally shoot 4K video. I went thru 2 batteries the other day shooting 4K and each one lasted 13-14 minutes with 20% left. I can normally get 18-20 minutes depending on how aggressive I fly shooting 1080

That would be a surprising difference. Doubtful there's that much more juice being consumed by the camera.

4k are power hungry compared to lower resolutions but in relation to the amount of power in a p3 battery, it's not enough to make that kind of difference.

Published specs are something like 90 minutes at 1080 and 70 minutes at 4K. And that's on a 1,100mAh battery.

Thanks for the info, no it was not windy. I'll do a few more runs at 4K

Interesting - doesn't match with what I've seen but I haven't compared directly. Nowadays I always shoot 4k when I am out actually shooting but very rarely do clips longer than a minute at a time. When I am shooting a full flight (like an interesting distance or other cross country flight), I shoot 1080x60.

I have 120 flights and run 4K video all the time for the whole flight. I average 18 minutes of flight with 30 percent left on the battery.
