failsafe when flying too far away

I have a P3. Wanted to know if I simply fly it away from me, even with clear signal, will the drone know to activate failsafe once it gets past a distance where it knows there wouldn't be enough battery to fly back home?

Meaning say I fly it 500 meters, and at 501 it would turn around (automatically activate failsafe) since it calculates that going further would cause it to NOT have enough battery to fly back Home.

On the flight screen the battery level bargraph shows an "H" icon which indicates when RTH will activate. If you watch, the H will move as you get farther or closer from home.
