FAA: Myths vs Facts

Commercial UAS Operations under Part 107
With the ink for 14 CFR Part 107 barely dry and temporary Remote Pilot Certificates hot off the press, there is a large amount of confusion and misunderstanding regarding commercial UAS operations. This is the webinar you need to see!

There is still room available for this week's FAA webinar. Click the link below to sign up. Kevin is going to shed some light of several topics we see covered here on the forums a LOT.

Will a recording of the webinar be available??

I spoke with Kevin about this and he is working on that. At this time it's "maybe" but hopefully yes.

Just a few more hours before this Webinar goes LIVE!! Still time to join and learn with us.

Great webinar! Glad I attended and thank you for posting.

You're very welcome. I enjoyed it and learned a piece or two along the way.

Kevin is a good friend of mine and a WEALTH of information. Most people have no idea how much he has done to help the sUAS community. He really has gone to bat for us over and over again.

Yeah, that was really comprehensive. A few of the answers to questions on the sidebar seemed contradictory at times though.

I noticed that too LOL! I'm sure Kevin is going to be overwhelmed when he sees the number of questions that scrolled up LOL

Yes, that was quite informative. Thanks for the heads-up. Sat through the whole 3 hrs. 20 minutes.

That other person from the FAA who interjected over Kevin on the question about flights over people or actors was interesting. Seems they are still saying "No flights overheard of people unless they are under some shelter, or at arm's length at minimum to the side if not." They do have the flying over people as a waiver, but the sidebar said only CNN had it, probably since it isn't online yet. Wonder how the "Dancing with the Stars" with their overhead down on the dancers did it with a waiver, or maybe just forgot about it (ahem!). Sounds like night flight waivers are going to be tough to get too.

Someone had it in for someone flying over NYC on Youtube too - twice! Actually, quite a few were complaining about 107 violators.

That four people (pilots at each corner) to fly around the building complex was odd. I'd just stand on the tallest roof and do it.

I didn't think the 107 rules applied to hobbyist flyers too (i.e. Over people. Night flights. 400 foot limits. etc.). Learned something new.

Part 107 is only for commercial. If someone said otherwise it was a mistake or typo.

Sorry I missed this! Who put it on? Can you access the recording still?

Kevin Morris (sUAS specialist with FAA) put this on. It was recorded and when it's available for viewing I'll link to it in this thread.

Probably won't be until late next week at the soonest.

It'll take them that long to get through all the questions.
Kevin posted this:

"There were over 400 questions typed into the webinar and I was able to combine them down to 163"

Here you go people. The webinar is now posted online for viewing.
