Extending my WiFi signal

Hi
I have a Sony Action Can HDR-AS15 that I use on my Phantom I
This will transmit the video to a smart phone per WiFi.
Sounds Great so far for an FPV system!
Problem is that it will only transmit about 16 feet. (per Sony)
Is there anyway that this can be extended?

Not a good idea to use Wifi on P1 only P2V can use Wifi
