Existing DJI customers

If the cost of the drone increase would it be fair for DJI to send you a bill for the difference?

Welcome to the real world where this is fair, normal and happens each and every day. It's called commerce. You can feel a little pain in that the price dropped (for a short time) but understand that you determined the price you paid was worth it to you at the time and you should have understood that price's drop on _all_ tech. I bought a P2V+ for around $1200 and a few months later it was worth about $700. It's not worth about $300 6 months after that. It's disappointing but I don't blame DJI.

Only wanting cheaper accessories thanks for the business lesson learn something new every day.

These kind of things happens often doesn't it now? Buy X price this week only to find it drop Y next week of ANY product. Be it at restaurant (Today's Special) or grocery store (this week's special) or Apple product (just last week) for that matter.

It's few months, not like it's last week.

And yes, i read your respond regarding "acknowledging" other customer. It's like the Black Friday sales here. They only have the stuff I don't want at deep discount. How about acknowledging me as a customer and just let everyone pick an item at DEEP discount of their choosing?

I take it you don't want cheaper accessories and to feel valued as a customer, we are different then.

Over and out

Come on GT, you should know that as any product ages it decreases in price. Particularly with tech - look at flat screen TVs, in car sat nav, tablets.....In fact almost anything. As an early adopter you have the benefit of having the product early doors but you always have to pay more for that privilege. I agree with you on Geo though, it's a travesty (if it actually happens).

I am sure GT knows it well but just likes to whine about it. I don't know what happen to those stiff upper lips.

Here's how I know he knows it: I'll bet that he won't buy a brand NEW, unopen P2V+ for what I paid for it ($1199).

And here's how you know that he knows technology depreciates: Ask him WHY he won't buy it at that price.

WANT vs. calling it (let me look back to get your quote right) "getting shafted" are two totally different thing. I do want cheaper accessories, but I don't feel shafted that they have lowered the price on some products but not others.

I wish their was more self regulation, it's not like they put in speed limiters into cars, just because the top speed is x amount in a country. It's strange that because of the small group, they can enforce certain rules. The US is a funny one, currently it's easier to purchase a firearm than to fly a drone in certain areas. That's strange to me.

Off Topic...

Ahem. but they DO put in a speed limiter into cars.....

Why do car manufacturers put speed governors (limiters) on their cars? - Quora

That's because we have it written into our Constitution, "the right of the people to keep and bear arms". It is a "right". It is "supposed" to be easier.

Other drones with less capabilities cost far more. I'm betting DJI makes their real money on batteries and accessories. I seldom see those things discounted. Betting its for that reason.

Kind of funny, but if you study some history, and read supporting documents like the Federalist papers and others, you'll discover the "intent" of the Founders very easily. Only slimey politicians and windbags who have endless debates over what the meaning of "is" is, try to convince us that the document says otherwise.

I hate to be the white shadow in the room but...

....if Apple made a drone - It'd be pretty epic and would hold its value quite well :)

Why do drones loose so much value?? Why do vehicles loose so much value? It's a moving/functioning device that develops wear an tear. With no legit "prior history" to go by you are simply left with the assumption it was used easy, never in a crash and will last longer than the asking price you deem fair.

When you buy a Phantom or any Quadcopter for whatever amount figure about $100 a month drop in value as long as it doesn't drop from sky at which time reset to zero. It's time and technology depreciation. Similar to your laptop or TV but worse because it is of a more personal nature and the market is still quite narrow. Middle age guys with disposable income and Drone Girl. I've got maybe $1,850 in mine so after 6 months it's value is easily down to $1,200 or less. I'm ok with that and when another one comes out that's way better I'm going to get that one too. Then the P3 will be a backup for those riskier flights (the kind I do not do now). I probably am the least risk taker of all the P3 owners. I fly it straight up 150 feet over my house to take pictures of the sunrise and sunset and that is about it.

You said BEAR, instead of BARE ... that's all. Before you go off on some random rant.

Because that is the correct word. Did you think that "bare" should have been used?! That is bare as in, naked. Please learn the proper use of, and definition of, words.

ETA: Ah, I forget that you're not from America. Sorry, maybe the nuances of our language are new to you. Bear is the correct usage, as in bear the weight, support, hold, carry.

I literally purchased a phantom 3 advanced on New Year's Eve.

Was going to moan about it but the reality is that I also got the hard case free (which I was going to purchase anyway) so I've not really lost out by a large degree.

It's just the way of things when you are dealing with gadgets and tech, if you always try to hold out for the best deal, you end up never buying new toys!

Have you actually reviewed their GEO system?.... DJI - The World Leader in Camera Drones/Quadcopters for Aerial Photography

I also live within 5 miles of an airport and would have to request authorization as well, I'm ok with that since it takes like 10 seconds but allows me to fly ANYWHERE within that warning area including right at the airport itself if I needed to for some reason... today, you can't really do that at all.

What I meant was that many city and town governments are establishing laws and regulations about drone operation that are far more restrictive than anything DJI might be doing - typically in response to the few pilots who have demonstrated they can't be responsible. If you were gonna be held potentially liable for the stupid things people are doing with their drones, you'd probably want to at least establish restraints that could reduce your exposure wouldn't you?... If I don't like their constraints, I can buy from many other vendors instead.. or build my own...
Sure it takes 10 sec to do it. But you will have to do it 24hrs in advance of the time you want to fly...
