Hi I replaced the shell on my phantom 4, now I'm getting an ESC error, is there some firmware I need to download or anything else, any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm grounded. Thanks.
I thought it would be too hard to solder it so I cut the wires halfway Up and rejoined them I also checked the wires for damaged and it seems ok.Disassemble and inspect ESC. It can overheat when soldering, drops of solder etc.
Also you may damage wires from ESC to motor when assembly body.
Bad idea, very bad.I thought it would be too hard to solder it so I cut the wires halfway Up and rejoined them I also checked the wires for damaged and it seems ok.
Thank for the help
wow. check flex from IMU to ESC, there may be tears or microcracks. All 4 .
Do you mean by scraping the copper wire with a blade. I did remove some of the plastic cover. You have made a poor decision. The motor fly leads are simply extensions of the field windings, each wire is individually insulated. You need to mechanically remove the insulation before soldering. You can do this mechanically with a sharp blade or by immersion in a solder bath. Connections should be made at the PCB,
Inside the plastic sheath the individual copper wires are enamelled (it's not enamel but that it is what it is generally named). You need to take each strand back to bare copper prior to soldering.Do you mean by scraping the copper wire with a blade. I did remove some of the plastic cover.
Under plastic, each wire is covered with an insulation varnish. It needs to be cleaned up.Do you mean by scraping the copper wire with a blade. I did remove some of the plastic cover.

It's a bit late for that.Don't cut wires! Unsolder it from ESC.
For future)It's a bit late for that.
That was it for me it worked wahoo airborne again.I have the same exact issue with my p4 I replaced the shell and suddenly all esc failed all 4 Ill try doing the same and scraping the wires thank you for the advice !!

Thanks for your help it was the coated wires, all fixed now.For future)
Pleasure. Happy to hear all is good. This is almost always how it plays out when folks attempt the splice method. If they understood what was involved they would perform the terminations at the main board, less effort and a superior job. That was it , thank you [emoji1]
