I just ordered a dual battery kit for my Phantom.

I haven't received it yet, but I was looking at the pictures and began wondering if the position of the batteries will affect the the lift from the propellers. Will the thrust be be dissipated by the batteries hanging on the outside of the copter? I'm obviously not an engineer and may be fretting over nothing. Has anyone else had first hand experience with these mounts and their affect on lift?

The IMU compensates for the weight distribution (it's no different to adding a camera to one end) if one end is lower the IMU speeds up the motors automatically to maintain balance. You might want to up the gain settings for the extra weight if you check the manual they have gains listed for the 350 450 and 550 and their weights you can use these as a guide for the gain settings.
