Drone flying during road trip

Hey guys still new to drones/quads I am planning a road trip across the US from Illinois to California was considering taking my drone and stopping by some open areas to fly it. I know to stay away from National parks, air ports, and cities. Does anyone know if the oasis/rest areas along the expressways are OK with flying a drone?

You should be fine. Just stay away from traffic, people, etc. there are apps like Hover and others that have maps with common no fly zones you could check.
