It's been a while since I first posted about this, and I'd be interested to see if anyone has found a solution. If you use the Droid Turbo, it's a bit thicker than most other phones, and doesn't fit in the stock mount that comes with the P4 transmitter - it wants to 'squeeze' out of the mount once you clamp down. Currently I have attached a car vent mount to a small wood block, and I can clamp the wood block in the transmitter mount. Looks like Hell.

I found if I angle the bottom out a little and just lightly bring the top clamp down it stays fairly well but I know exactly what your saying about it wanting to squeeze out
You could get one of the small tablet hoods that have the suction cups to hold the phone/tablet in place. The transmitter mount will grip the hood and the hood will grip your phone.
