Ok in anticipation of receiving my new battery I went to download the zip file for the firmware update. I have done the current update already but I erased the file from the SD card but I figured I would need it again to do the new battery. Anyway after downloading the file I am unable to open it. When I attempt to open it it just duplicates itself. I called Apple Support and they tried everything to open the file and they could not so they are suggesting the file is corrupt. I find that hard to believe...anyone else have this problem? I am trying to find another zip file to see if that works.

Wow. You may have actually figured my problem out! I tried to do the same on my Mac!

I'm going to try on a Win machine and see if it makes a diff.

Ive just posted a similar problem and found this thread
did you find an answer or do i have to go borrow a windows machine?

Mac does the auto unzipping based on the settings. So you got to be careful. Erase all the previous files for the same update and try a fresh. You will directly get bin file in the folder, you may not need to further unzip
