Ive just come back from a 2 week holiday to find out that the android version of dji go has come out along with another firmware update do i need to or maybe the better question is should i update i have been reading about problems with the app and rc firmware update problems am i best to keep with dji pilot app and the last firmware option? Any opinions would be appreciated.

Plenty of people with Go and latest FW are happy campers. Some are not. Same can be said for all previous iterations of app and firmware. The Go app is more polished, and with the follow me/POI/waypoint firmware imminent, you're going to upgrade anyway.
I'm happy with the very-latest firmware and GO app on my Android S5 phone. I fly almost daily and have not had any issues. With the new app, the actual camera interface is almost identical to the previous Pilot app. However, the preliminary screens are slightly different, better in my opinion. Everything seems to work in a smoother manner now.
