DJI (Phantom 3) Triumph?

For what it's worth:
I went & got some 9450 props & spares at one of the Sydney dealers & thru in the "whats coming out next" question, they seemed to think that "something" that comes in between the Phantom series & the professional series was on the cards, but DJI gave them no hints & basically said that they could order more Phantoms & not get "stuck" with them when the new model comes out, who knows???

So after all the bad information, it looks like there is no Phantom 3 yet. In its place is a slightly refreshed Phantom 2 with improved motors/ESCs, a different compass and a LiPo for the controller.

A bit more detail for the folks interested (I know I am)

If these documents are true, it looks like some tasty upgrades.
I'll definitely be upgrading my current P2 with a few of these parts but not sure about removing the self-centered spring sticks.

Improved motors - more lift and durability
Improved props - better efficiency and manuverability
Upgraded ESCs - possibly able to hander more current
Improved Transmitter - Left dial gimbal wheel (ABOUT TIME), Trainer port (for PC flight simulations), built in battery and status indicator
Compass - Protective shell (white), anti-static

With regard to self-centering... it would be imperative for hands-off hovering especially beyond LOS.
Would it not?

I don't see this 'upgrade' being mutually exclusive with self-centering.

Why can't it do both?

Looks like a gap upgrade to me! Whee! I don't have to sell off my Phantom for another six months if the above photos are true. Still hoping for a H4-3D gimbal in production ASAP though.

Where did you come by this information?

what's the price for the new transmitter. I have a fpvlr stage 2 kit, wondering if I could transfer kit to new TX when it comes out or would it be best just to add a tilt lever and call it a day... Interesting!

Good question.
So far I can't find much online except a Russian forum also seems to have some of this
http://radiocopter.ru/articles/180077
But Cloud9 seems to have more than them.

But I did spot some confirmation - the FCC has something from DJI for approval
http://fccid.net/number.php?fcc=SS3-WM3 ... z3H69Ze4Hw
and if you go to the exhibits section and check the user manual,it is for the new control unit.
Notice - Phantom Remote Control Upgrade
Thank you for purchasing a Phantom. DJI has released an upgraded remote control (models:
NPVT581, NDJ6 and NRC900) to replace the previous models (PVT581, DJ6 and RC900).
The upgraded remote control comes with new features, including a gimbal control dial, builtin
LiPo battery, and battery level LED indicators. The new remote control is compatible with
the Phantom 2 Vision+, Phantom 2 Vision and Phantom 2.

Yes, the FCC applications are usually the first clue that something is coming, and no doubt the source of the documents that have been floating around. If you look under exhibits, you'll see all kinds of photos of the internals of the new remote, including what looks like a 2000mAh lipo, exactly the same as the lipo in the existing repeater.

If all they are doing is adding a wheel to the transmitter thats pretty bad. DJI should take a look at what Walkera has to offer on the Scout X4
