New firmware (v3.08) and VISION apps (iOS v1.043 and Android v1.0.54) for the Phantom 2 series have just been released. Please update your Phantom’s firmware and mobile apps to enjoy all of the new features.

Here are the main updates:
a) Dynamic home point: when using a GPS-enabled mobile device and running the VISION app, the Home Point will automatically be reset to the location of the device every 2 seconds during flight.
b) Ability to change the Return to Home altitude added to the VISION app (ability to change this setting in the Assistant software remains).
c) Maximum operating area, based on remaining battery power and current settings, can now be displayed on the ground station map view. This area automatically expands or contracts when new flight plans are set.
d) The aircraft’s current longitude and latitude will be displayed on the VISION app’s radar. When using ground station, the longitude and latitude of each waypoint is also displayed as they are set.
e) New pre-flight checklist that reminds users of important considerations before flying added.
f) Battery cell warning added to the VISION app that alerts users if battery issues are detected. Browse battery cell warning history in the VISION app.
g) New auto-discharging feature to address the issue of fully charged battery swelled when it was stored for an extended period.
h) Battery cell damages detection feature added.
i) New battery cell balancing feature to extend battery life.
j) Maximum descent speed set to 0.6m/s when the aircraft’s altitude is less than 10m and descending automatically (for example in failsafe mode). The maximum speed of descent remains 2m/s in other flight conditions.
k) Propulsion system performance enhancements.
l) German, French and Japanese language support added to the VISION app.

Special Notes:
a) The dynamic home point is only available when using GPS-enabled mobile devices. Your aircraft will not be able to record a dynamic home point if you are using a mobile device without a GPS module (e.g. iPod).

New hardware supported:

New remote control for Phantom 2 and Phantom 2 Vision+
The upgraded remote control comes with many new features. A gimbal control dial, trainer port, built-in rechargeable LiPo battery with a capacity of 2000mAh, battery level LED indicators and throttle locking feature that holds the throttle stick in place when descending are all included. The new remote control is compatible with the Phantom 2 Vision+ and Phantom 2.

New propulsion system for Phantom 2 and Phantom 2 Vision+
New 2312 motors, 9450 propellers, and ESCs combine to give you greater thrust and control than ever before. You can load more equipment on your Phantom, and achieve up to 200g/axis of extra thrust when using a 3S LiPo battery with this completely new system.
Use DJI Lightbridge to control your aircraft or connect the remote control to your computer via the trainer port to run a simulation application and practice your flying skills.

I wonder why the tilt function is not available for Phantom 2 Vision?

Re: DJI has released the new firmware v3.08 for Phantom 2 se

Because it is a servo action NOT a gimbal??
So it means the tilt is not operated via 7th channel?

The tilt function through the 7th channel is working now for P2V.

Has anyone installed and tested the new update yet? I noticed several things added around battery management

Re: DJI has released the new firmware v3.08 for Phantom 2 se

What is the advantage of the throttle lock function? I'm probably missing something obvious.

Re: DJI has released the new firmware v3.08 for Phantom 2 se

I've updated everything, it all seems to be working fine although I cant go outside with it at the moment as its windy as hell and chucking it down with rain. Works fine indoors with no props, gonna order a 7th channel lever now.

:D That's a good question. Cruise control would be on the other stick.
I'd like to know why they put the tilt control on the top of the transmitter?
If I have to let go of the left stick, I could just use the app.
Looks like the Vision/Android users score first. I hope those of us with Plus don't have to get new controllers for tilt!

Couple of advantages I can see (from high altitude):
1) constant rate of descent;
2) don't have to hold on to the throttle.

Yippie! Camera tilt for P2V!
....and some other things look nice.

SO how does this throttle lock work ?

Re: DJI has released the new firmware v3.08 for Phantom 2 se

Doesn't sound too complicated.

Probably just a 'detent' to overcome the [centering] spring tension.

Cant see anything in the new manual on it.

Or have they got rid of the spring ?

I am not able to test this for a week or so.

Wonder if you turn mobile device's GPS off, will the Home Point "work" as before? There might be situations, when you don't want Home Point to follow your mobile device.

Re: DJI has released the new firmware v3.08 for Phantom 2 se

You may be reading too much into this.

A detent to hold the stick down would not be necessary if they removed the spring. The self-centering and maintaining feature of the left stick is essential to the Phantoms hovering functionality.
