Does anyone know if the problem of the homepoint randomly resetting existed in Android DJI Go version 3.1.1? Also what is the newest version that used Google maps and is there enough difference between Google Maps and the current here maps to warrant rolling back?

It only exists in version DJI GO 3.1.2 for Android.

DJI fixed the issue and is beta testing. They had me test the beta for this specific issue where I can confirm it is fixed. I would expect a public release very soon.
