DJI forces us to take the GO update v3.1.3 [Android].

No problem, it's OK .
For me it's good, I changed " signifiant ..." since last week , but I thought that there is an alternative.
Topic solved for me ,it works very well with 2.8.0.

Thank you guys

Cool .. i wanna do a how-to vid, so trying to make sure i have my basis covered on what steps needed to be shown :) Looks like adding a firewall is also an option.

HI All - I"m trying to document all of the methods to fix this issue in a Google doc. Its open for editing if anyone wants to contribute, I'm just compiling it and have done my best to give credit to those who posted the ideas. Please feel free to edit it up!

How to: Fixing the forced upgrade in DJI Go for Android
Great work on this problem that should never have been forced on us to begin with, Digdat0 and the rest of the contributors.

I downloaded the 2 files, stored them on my desktop drive, but for some reason I can't copy/paste .json files to the dji.pilot cache folder. I renamed them to .jpg and copied them over, but I can't edit them back to a .json extension. Very frustrating. I've tried 2 different file manager apps. Have been grounded for over a week because of this.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm back up and flying! Turns out DJI GO starts up automatically when I turn my Nexus on. It wouldn't allow me to access the cache folder until I stopped it from running in my Settings, Apps, Running. Sure would be nice to keep it from starting up until you need it.

I still had to do some "mirrors and magic" to get the modified files into the cache folder. I changed the extension on both of them to .jpg Copied them to the cache folder, deleted the original 2 files and renamed the new ones back to a .json extension.

Thank to everyone involved. I do appreciate all the knowledge a forum like this can generate. Have a great flying day!

Worked for me 2.9.1 on dji go app and 1.5.70 Ac very consistent for 2 days. ..lol.Hope this stays consistent.

Just got a IPad 4. Needed to download maps in the West Desert of Tooele county Utah. Cellular Sprint will activate tomorrow. Now no Google maps. Defeats purpose. Is there any way to save google maps with topo to use in field. This's for search and rescue.

I didn't like being 'forced' into an update either with no choice of even delaying it for a day or so. Had to give up the days planned flying as I didn't have a good enough phone signal to update and always like to try at home when a new version arrives anyway.
Having since updated there has been no issues for me and I even think the down-link video quality is more stable.. probably nothing to do with it.

Hello friends! I have been loyal DJI customer for 3 years and since today I hate them ) I went on shooting place and after power on the stuff I got the "tips" message, which made me to update. After updating of Dji Go via play market I can not make copter to connect. Job is canceled, i`m nervous, spent 5 hours reading forums and did not find the way to solve the problem... Does someone of you have effective solution for this? Will be grateful for a link or smth!

Here's a doc with a few ways to solve the forced update issue. I recommend Method #4: Edit two files on the Android device. Before you do this, uninstall the latest version and get the APK file for whatever version you want and install it. Then follow the steps in this doc:

Spent quite a bit of time on this today. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S2.

Tried method #3 (replace 2 files) after installing 2.9.1 but it still came up with the forced update message.
Tried method #6 (firewall block) but message still came up again after I'd gone through step #3 first.
Tried method #2 (modified apk). Initially couldn't get to the download site, opendns kept telling me:

This site was categorized in: P2P/File sharing, Pornography

So had to disable opendns filtering.

Installing the modified 2.9.1 seems to have worked so far. It warns me that there is an updated app available but so far no forced update message.

GO seems to use too many open ports in communicating with whomever. Someone said there were like 10-12 different escapes that DJI uses they had to firewall block. No wonder the app often breaks up video as it calls home or wherever and using up the processor. Bloatware seems built into it. When I've used a task killer app to shut off bloatware so GO might run better, I've had GO auto-launch itself in the background at times while shutting off others. Bizarre.

We can't pick another version anymore. Sideload trick is different thing.
Once we're connected to the internet, the wellcome screen will be blocked by update notification.
The only way i know is clear data and keep it away from the internet, but we won't get map and flight history records.

Why DJI is so cruel???

try this, unistall the go app, turn off the net and do a clean to your tablet. and then download your favorite version and keep away from the internet ( no maps and no flight history, but its ok ).

Wish there was a way to shut off the DJI "Updates Required" messages unless I wanted to look. Annoying!

Got my tin-foil hat out and thought, "This would be a good way to take all drones out of service in a country if whatever country decided "We don't want no stinkin' drones flying 'round here." Whole area becomes a NFZ due to some mandatory update. A massive brickware update - like they don't do that at times now!
