Peñalba de Santiago is a charming and picturesque village located in the province of León, in the autonomous community of Castilla y León, Spain. This magical place stands out for its natural beauty, rich history and well-preserved traditional architecture.

The first thing that strikes you when you arrive in Peñalba de Santiago is its stunning natural setting. The village is nestled in a valley surrounded by majestic mountains, making it a perfect destination for nature lovers and hiking enthusiasts. The trails and paths that wind through the surrounding area offer spectacular panoramic views and opportunities to connect with the tranquillity of nature.

The heart of the village is its traditional architecture, which has been carefully preserved over the centuries. The narrow cobbled streets are lined with old stone houses with slate roofs, giving Peñalba de Santiago a unique medieval charm. The architectural and scenic setting of the village is so special that it was declared a Historic-Artistic Site in 1994.

One of the highlights is the Church of Santiago, a 10th century Romanesque building that stands out for its splendid architecture and stone bell tower. The church is a testimony to the rich history of the village and attracts visitors interested in the art and culture of the region.

The quiet and peaceful atmosphere of Peñalba de Santiago is ideal for those looking to disconnect from the hustle and bustle and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere. In addition, the village has a number of establishments where you can sample the delicious local gastronomy, including traditional Leonese dishes such as cecina (cured beef jerky), botillo (pork sausage) and mantecadas (buttery cakes).

The village is also an excellent starting point for exploring the surrounding countryside. Within easy reach are stunning natural spaces such as the Babia y Luna Natural Park, which offers opportunities for wildlife watching and for enjoying nature at its purest.

In short, Peñalba de Santiago is a hidden treasure in the mountains of León, where history, traditional architecture and nature come together to offer an unforgettable experience to all who visit. Very pretty scenery. Doesn't look like it's been turned into a tourist-milking cashcow, like a lot of pretty places these days.

...and the teenager girls are always into their phones, oblivious to the beauty around ;)

Fortunately, it doesn't seem to be a very touristy place (there was hardly anyone around and it only has one restaurant). I guess it will help that it is far from the coast and the roads are complicated, mountain roads.

About the girls, you know, they only need to see things for 1 second, so if you stop with the camera to shoot, they get bored.

Thank you very much for watching the video and commenting!

Nice way to spend a bit of time this morning. Always appreciate your videos, well done! The ladies on their phones was obvious to me also.
About the ladies with the phones, you know, it's very difficult for the new generations to pay attention for a few hours to something.

Thank you very much for your comments and I hope you like the upcoming videos.
