I have Litchi, and everything else possible! I've only used DJI GO

I got litchi but am scared to try it yet.... I haven't ever lost control of had to use RTH.

I setup a small trial path around my house and it worked great, so I then sent it to circle my dad's house, which is a mile by the road, 2400' as the phantom flies, but with all the trees, there is no way I could keep signal. Got nervous, hit go, and waited. About 5 minutes later I started hearing a buzzing and there it was. Didn't have the waypoints right so it didn't point the camera correctly.

While it is amazing how well it works, there was a good bit of nervousness. I had it set to RTH at end of mission, and the last waypoint was right by my house as well - just being paranoid. Biggest concern would be if something catastrophic happened to the bird, or an actual bird attacked!

Actual bird attack? What kind of bird are you thinking of? Terrordactyl? This is so funny. We do have very mean mockingbirds here in Florida. They are small but fierce. Don't think thy can handle a phantom though.

Go to YouTube and type in "eagle attack drone". It's a great video.

I was so nervous on my first two flights I followed the quad in my car. After the third flight I trusted it and let it do it's thing. Yesterday I set up the 3,700 feet mission and it did great. I lost FPV and speed/distance feedback (2.4gHz) at just over 3,150 feet so I was nervous for a few minutes. It was a 12 minute mission and it was overhead in no time. Boy was I impressed.

Tony look in the first post for the link to Litchi.

Litchi coming to the P3 Standard and P3 4K | DJI Phantom Forum
I realized I had already signed up for this. But was confused about the download because it says for phantom and inspire. But it never mentions the standard at least not in the iOS version. Maybe it only works with android phones for the standard. Can anyone confirm it will work for standard using iPhone or iPad Air ?

Litchi is available for the standard now for iOS, it's $15 for us in the App Store.

I have the DBS mod Antenna. At 3,500 I bet I still have control and vid. I really need to try it.

I wonder how that app sends the mission to the quad when it loses signal?

It is loaded into the quad before you start the mission. I assume on the internal sd card that is hidden inside the body of the Phantom 3. Once on its way it needs no contact from the controller at all.

Ok. But how did you get it in its way? Most of us don't know the sequence. You got everything going. Somehow you told it to start its mission.

Ok I see litchi now. And it is 15 dollars. That first link is a sign up and they invite you to be a beta tester. Can't just choose. That's why I was confused. This is for Apple users I guess. But now I'm afraid of the new version. No reviews. Nothing. It says can program missions from the ground. Wow. Incredible. I'm still scared of a fly away with this app. I will still buy it as test it before I actually use it. Scott you are very brave. I wonder what other great features it has.

I'm putting a FLYTREX GPS on my drone. It's the best way to find it in the event of a flyaway. Also it gives great telemetry.

It uses cellular and GPS to track and to locate. Pretty smart for $149

I performed my longest controlled flight with the new antenna and reached a Max Distance of 4,974 feet or 1516 meters from the home-point.

During the flight I lost signal at 3,466 feet and the craft started a RTH. When I regained signal I turned the quad back around and held the antenna a little lower toward where I thought the quad would be. I was them able to achieve the maximum distance of 4,974 feet before it did a RTH and I allowed it to return.

Before the DBS Mod I was able to get 1500 feet then lost signal repeatedly. I am happy with my results.

Here is the Healthy Drones flight log : HealthyDrones.com - Innovative flight data analysis that matters

In the landscape photo there is a pin marking the approximate spot it did a RTH and in the second is the house located there.

Part of me wants to see a giant yellow pushpin actually there! Other than perhaps the power lines, I would think with a wide open space like that you should be able to get more than 1500' with no issues with it out of the box.
