Crash Stats

Does anyone know if there is anyone or any site that keeps stats or causes of reported crashes such as pilot error, mechanical error, pre flight issues, electrical issues etc. I would be interested in actually finding out what percentage of crashes are caused by the pilot himself vs the equipment vs some other extraordinary factor such as wind, weather, shoot down, etc.? I think it might be time to try and dispell rumors of equipment/software problems if the majority of crashes can be shown to actually be caused by inexperienced or overzealous pilots or if there is a common mechanical or software problem that needs to be addressed. Don't know of any sites that you describe, however, using a google advanced search of this site, you can come up with some unscientific results regarding crashes.
