Someone smarter than me probably already thought of this, but what about avoiding stress cracks by using rubber washers (and slightly longer motor mount screws to compensate)? Do we know the cracks are from stress?

Silicone washers might be a potential improvement, they can be somewhat rigid, still flex, yet endure high temperature.

Ive certainly used them on the multi-rotors I've built to good effect.

2 potential additional benefits (certainly helped on my 450 and 550):
Reduced jello affect in video's
Reduced vibrations into the IMU (gave smoother flight)
