The iPad Mini 3 is compatible. However, it has the same processor as the iPad Mini 2, so you'll save a few bucks by getting that instead. Or, get the iPad Mini 4 if you want the best available iPad Mini. It has a faster processor and a brighter screen.

    That will work great.
I use an iPad mini 2 with no issues

The size of the iPad Mini seems perfect to me. Some people love larger tablets though.

I am using the iPad mini 4 w/cell. Works great and the screen is visible even in the desert sun. That seems to be the biggest complaint with most tablets.

...and only the Mini will fit in the new P4 "light transport" case, without modification!

True. But, that case is going right down to my basement as soon as I open my P4 :D

I was planning on putting in the back seat of the car for the occasional road trip, under a beach towel. Definitely not designed for airline travel!
