Convert P2V+ busted gimble into fixed camera?

Anyone tried converting a broken gimble assembly to a fixed mount? Would like to use the camera even without stabilization but would need to kill power to the gimble motors at the very least. Not ready to drop $700 on another fragile DJI gimble. Any ideas?

Also, you could just disconnect the cables one at a time to see which stops the gimbal from working. I'm pretty sure it's not the 6 pin cable but one of the other two...
 
You can unplug the ribbon cable from the roll & pitch motors. I'm not sure how the yaw motor would behave with this done, but this might get you what you want.

Another option would be to replace the P2V+ gimbal/camera with another, more durable variety. With a simple rewiring job (moving a few plugs), you can retain most of the original features.
