Contest to win a new DJI Mavic (ONLY 10 DAYS TO GO!!)

Wondering why not all of my You Tube videos show up when I try to upload a file. Only ten files show up, I have about 5 more I would like to upload. I tried Vimeo but that doesn't seem to work

Is it possible to show the 29 rejected videos?
No need to do that, and in fact I cannot. Once the videos are rejected, they disappear from our system so I cannot re-post. What I can tell you however is that they were quite poor from a production value standpoint, or didn't display anything noteworthy.

For example. a 3 minute single shot of a forest with jerky camera movements (left-right-up-down) and some music added in the background. Pretty tough to watch for 30 seconds, let alone 3 minutes.

People who submitted and got their videos rejected know what i am talking about. If they want to repost here for reference, that is up to them.

Cheers

Patrice

Thanks for picking up on that. Seems to be an issue that came up during the site integration. The IT guys are working on this and will fix in the coming days. Are you facing a similar situation with Vimeo or is this just affecting YouTube?

Ok, so I can see how this works for submitting, etc. My one concern is that I would like to submit some personal videos I have put together that have opening and closing titles, and one has a still-frame (that was taken with the Phantom). I do not imagine these can be sold exactly, but can they be considered? Or do all contest submissions need to be of sell-able content?

If they all must be of sell-able content, I tip my hat, as this is a brilliant business move to drive new content to your sales platform, it just seems a little sneaking that this is not mentioned outright as part of the terms, and it would also probably be beneficial to those who would like to enter to know that their submitted content must be of the "stock" and "re-sale" variety... Just a thought.

Update: I do see that you generally addressed this in a reply, having it as part of the terms of the contest, also making it clear (as part of the terms of the contest) that the submitted and accepted videos must be able to be sold and as such will be listed for sale, would be transparent as well.

I am sending in my submissions either way, they will likely be rejected as they will not meet "stock" criteria, but as a new entry to the platform, personal videos of friends and family (well done) is what I've got. I can re-cut them if you have suggestions, but as it wasn't really outlined in the stated terms at the time of submission, I am going to proceed until corrected.

Probably why you had a 97% rejection rate in the first day. Might be a flag that you aren't being clear... :-/

Cool, I can file a bug report too!

Removing AES access to a YouTube Account does not reset the AES account into re-connecting. I connected my YouTube Account, and selecting YouTube to upload left me with a white screen, so I went to Google and removed AES access, assuming this would trigger an attempt to re-pair. It did not, and now I can not upload to AES. Hrrrmmmm...

So, two bugs:

1. After pairing, no videos showing after selecting YouTube as a source.
2. After removing access via the Google Dashboard, no re-pair attempt triggered...

Would love to submit. Thanks for the help.

This is strange. I just accessed my own YT account and was able to upload just fine without any issues. We also received a number of videos from others who sent from YT.

Would you have an active firewall selected by default in your browser? This was an issue for some. The system seems to be working fine from my end and we are getting videos from others so I suspect this would be a browser related situation. I am not IT specialist, but could it be the firewall setting?

Good feedback, thanks for the suggestions.

On the selling of content, anyone who is sending footage must be registered sellers on our site. This is very clear in the rules of the contest. In terms of pricing of the product, we allow sellers to make their products 'Free' of charge. This is an option in the drop down list when people submit their footage. Therefore, this becomes less of a selling exercise, and much more like a showcasing of the work they do.

To be quite honest, our business comes from the sale of stock segments. This is our core business. However, we have sold a number of full video productions to large hotel chains who are looking for footage. Instead of paying in cash, they paid in loyalty points. One example of this is the Intercontinental Mauritius who purchased the rights to this video:
To view this content we will need your consent to set third party cookies.
For more detailed information, see our cookies page.
They paid us in IHG points which are sufficient to pay for 4-5 nights in any Intercontinental hotel globally. Not a bad deal for all involved.

- Good for the client as it doesn't cost them any money.
- Good for the pilots as it allows them to travel and see the world, and this does not appear anywhere as income since no official payment is made.
- Good for us as well because everyone is happy and we get our name out there.

This is all really unique and innovative which is why we are making an effort to promote this as much as possible.

No other site out there allows this to happen. We are clearly focused on the commercial aspect, but do it in a very different and innovative fashion.

Cheers

Are the uploaders allowed to just watermark their work until it gets purchased? Won't that make it more legit?

I understand all of this, it is just that nowhere in the contest guidelines does it state clearly that to enter you must make your video available to public and commercial consumption. Also, as I stated, it doesn't clearly state that one of the guidelines is that the video (to pass curation) must be of, again, the stock or advertisement variety.

As I said earlier, it is a fantastic business development move. Certainly, you stand to receive a higher valuation of stock footage than the cost of a Mavic, which is brilliant. Further, even if the footage is free, it increases the depth of your catalog, which will drive more customers to consider your business. I can't fault you for any of it, but it really shouldn't be something (the selling and markatability point) someone has to connect the dots with (or read the entire thread for). Just a bit of Brother's Keeper there. It is no big deal.

As for the bugs: I hope it isn't a browser issue. I am using the latest Chrome.

I am not giving you manager access to my YouTube anyway, it is a security concern of mine. What are my other options for submitting footage? Can I submit footage using my own FTP server?

For the Video Productions category, I have no issue with that. However, for the stock segments, we ask that the preview files be in 720p as a maximum resolution so this makes any commercial usage of the footage nearly impossible. We sell 4K footage only (with the exceptional 1080p content if really amazing) and as a result require that the 720p preview files be without a watermark.

For video productions however, watermarking is fine ... but reduces the overall appeal of the footage.

Again, for clarification, does this mean there are resolution constraints on the contest? My P3A doesn't do 4k. Neither would a P3S, so, does that mean the contest is limited to owners of a P34k or P3P or P4?

This is a very good point.

I will update the contest rules to mentionne that submissions MUST be in 4K resolution. Not restricting the platform per say because we have people shooting with Red Dragon and other cameras of the sort who submit content. It's not DJI specific, but the resolution requirements is a good point. Will do that now.

Ok, well, that sucks... So, on Phantom Pilots, owners of Standard, and Advanced need not apply. Good to know, I guess. Oh well.

Best of luck with the contest.

Same here. I was fliming on my electric unicycle with the phantom 3 advanced. Would be a killer video ESP as it was around London and the London eye

OK guys, let's let this one 'fly'. If you want to submit a 1080p video for the contest, I will accept it. That doesn't mean we would approve the video if they don't meet certain standards, but I won't reject them solely on the base of resolution.

This will be for members of this forum only.

Thank you. I will upload my one now, I still have to edit the London eye one but I think the one I have already would give you an idea. Bear in mind I only have 2 months experience with this and still learning lol

I can't seem to upload. Is it not available to do by phone? I can't add my YouTube link either

A small part of me feels bad for making you back on your content standards, but I think that it is a good move. Especially considering that the contest is for a Mavic, and it would stand to reason that you would want to put a 4K sensor in the hands of someone you thought worthy of it. Considering it would add one more person to the pool of content creators you would work with. Smart.

I still, however, can not upload via YouTube. What are my other options for submitting? May I submit via SFTP?
