Connections to controller Phantom 2

I have a Phantom 2 that I am trying to get to fly (in the Phantom 2 Vision I received my first help, albeit wrong forum).
Now I need just a few last questions answered.
I have 2 cables connected to the controller positions X1 and X2. I assume they have to go to the receiver.
1 - which cable (X1, X2) goes to which position on the receiver (blue, red)?
2 - does it matter which way around on the receiver (1, 2)?
3 - how far do the antennas stick out? Does the rubber part stay in the Phantom?
4 - the receiver has two antennas, a long one and a short one. Are they supposed to be sticking out of certain holes of the Phantom?
