Ignore at least half of the previous posts.
Straight up is always the trickiest orientation for your Phantom to get a good signal.
Fly out and up and you'll see more range - particularly if you learn how to orientate the antennas.

Just a little update.... i flew again today, this time i lost connection at 785ft, altitude was about 260ft.The area was basically forested, i was in a large open area. As soon as i lost connection RTH started then i took control when it came closer...... still would like to know if this range is normal, oh and this is with a booster app from the android market...
