Compass position on airframe.

Could someone advise if the compass can be mounted horizontally rather than vertically on a leg..
I have the skid set and the vertical leg is set at a slight angle..I was thinking of mounting the compass in front of this leg on the carbon fibre mount and it would be horizontal... On holidays so don't have access to manuals etc..

If it would help you I could print 4 spacers with one having a vertical stub to fix it to...
I'm in the UK, but it's only a stamp....
