Compass error nearly every flight- must recalibrate- urban flying?

I live in a major city with many skyscrapers. I usually fly nearby (as in within 5 miles).

I have read through all of the compass guides and know that I should not be re-calibrating every flight. But my DJI app requires me to, and usually I have to try the calibration 4-5 times before getting a signal.

I am not flying directly near any buildings and always in open areas, but maybe it possible that being in an urban area simply causes these errors?

Compass calibration is not a signal. It's allowing the P3 to know where magnetic north is.

In my experience metal is almost always the problem. It's not always that the P3 is not calibrated correctly, it's that metal around the drone is throwing off the calibration. Move away from any sources you can see and then just pick up the drone and lift it above your head. If that stops the error, the metal is underground.
