Has anyone attempted to get a waiver for daylight operations (night flying) in controlled airspace, say, Class D? Or a 107.29 waiver and 107.41 authorization?

Were you successful and how did you do it?

I have a potential client later on this year for night flying, but is also in Class D airspace. I won't need to go very high (<150 ft) and it is only about 1000 ft from the edge of the Class D.

BigAl got a daylight waiver recently. They are available, but you do have fill out the request and provide every scrap of information properly. Else you'll be denied. Gold Seal has a new Night Flight Operations module. It's free to Gold Seal members, but is also available a la carte for people who want just the Night Ops portion. It produces an endorsement, signed by an FAA instructor, attesting to the fact that you have had the mandatory night operations training. An endorsement isn't required to get the waiver, but it is likely to improve your odds of success and it does guarantee that you received the training as outlined and required by the FAA. The online training takes less than 30 minutes to complete and the cost is $20.
