Cheap Dual-Purpose Helipad

It's not pretty, but it cost me nothing more than a little time. The pad is an 11.5-inch square fragment of EVA foam flooring that was left over from the floor of my exercise room. The reflective surface is aluminum foil tape left over from the GPS shielding mod. It creates a nice stable surface for launch, and it allows me to check the LED signals from a standing position (although it's not easy in bright sunlight). The holes in back are drilled half way through the EVA foam, and they fit over the prop screws, thus providing additional protection for the Phantom inside the backpack.

Just thought I'd share that with you.
 
I've been using an old milk crate turned upside down. Comes in very handy when launching from tall grass, I always hand-grab rather than land.
