Does anyone know of any companies that supply genuine carbon fibre phantom shells?
I will keep searching and dreaming
I thought about making my own. Wouldn't be that hard, could even improve upon the existing design a little. But then I remembered I'm lazy as hell and can't be bothered lol.
Would be easier to just buy CF tubes and a few CF base plates and fashion a naked one.
Won't carbon fibre block the transmitter signal?
Never thought of that, maybe it would. Could be why the bigger machines are bare frames with the tx/rx gear left semi exposed or covered by plastic.
It would be fairly easy to make a CF copy of the Phantom shell. If done properly, it could be lighter weight and stiffer. Stiffness is not always a good thing. It would likely break in a crash where the flexible plastic would have survived. It might also transmit vibrations from the motors that would be absorbed by a more flexible plastic shell.
Any antennas would need to be outside of the shell for good reception, including receiver, FPV transmitter and GPS.
