I've been disappointed with the FC40's camera, so I attempted to figure out how best to mount a small canon point & shoot. Was able to do it for less than $20.

Nice. I would do two extra things.

1.) I would add the locks to prevent dropping the camera. DJI sells them for the gimbals due to the extra weight.
2.) taller landing dear might help too.

btw, how do you control the camera ?

What exactly is the mount called that attaches to camera can not find on amazon was able to find the carbon fiber, I really like your idea

Did you get any vibration? I am getting some bad vibrations where even with a 1/2000 shutter i can't get a decent picture.

I tried a similar idea nut found it wouldn't fly well due to the weight being too off centre. My camera was also bigger than yours so that may have been part of the issue.
You'd never fly it with an SLR - far too heavy.
