Camera egg relocation

Has anyone had any success with thanking apart the eggshell camera and placing the components inside the phantom 2? I'm looking to still use the camera and vision app while freeing up the undercarriage on the phantom for a gimbal and go pro. Is this possible? Thanks any input would be great.

Would be simpler to buy the wifi module and antennas from a P2V+, install them and use with gimbal & GoPro.
