Is it better to hold the drone still and turn yourself around in a circle, or stay still and only turn the drone itself

It's easier to turn your body, but neither will result in a better compass calibration. I turn my body to eliminate the possibility of dropping the Phantom.

Either is fine. Just don't stand near a car or other metal object, which is why it's always recommend to do it in a open area. Many on here do it once (properly), then never again unless it becomes necessary (i.e., drone not hovering stable or drone not flying straight).

I agree with msinger. I always turn in a circle holding the phantom first level then nose down.
