Is it possible to update the BTU without purchasing the Ground Station hardware?

I purchased the BTU thinking it could be used with the phone application, NM Assistant, and a Phantom 2 connected via Bluetooth. Using the Can-Bus connection from BTU to Phantom 2.

I am in exactly the same situation.

Phantom 2 upgraded to firmware V3.0

Bought a BTU module today (Not the Data Link)

Latest version of iPhone NM Assistant.

Latest version of IOS Ground Station.

Ground-station does not detect the BTU.

NM Assistant on iPhone and/or iPad detects the BTU, accepts my username and password,
but then refuses to connect due to "Firmware Mismatch".

BTU Release notes says it will work only with Naza-M V2 Firmware V3.16 or above, but the
Naza-M Assistant will not connect to the Phantom 2. the Phantom 2 Assistant Software does not detect the BTU.

Stuck between a rock and a hard place.
What to do?
 
I'm in the same boat as xplorer. I contacted DJI a week ago and of course, no response. BTU will allow Naza M iPhone app to login but won't get past the firmware mismatch.
 
From what I understand, the BTU cannot be connected directly to the NAZA in the P2, it can only be used on one through the GS hardware. You can connect it to a plain NAZA v2 including the ones in the P1, but for some reason DJI blocked it in the P2.
