Best free software/service for creating 3D maps

What is the current best software or servit for creating 3D mesh maps?
I've used Pix4D for small stuff, but no matter how many pics I use it doesn't seem to come out as good as other demos I've seen. Also I'd like to be able to see it online, but it never works when I try to upload to their site.

What other good options are there for free (or really cheap) 3D mapping for relatively small areas. Ideally can be shared online.

For the online viewing, check out sketchfab. Did you try autodesk memento for photogrammetry processing?

Sorry for being late in the reply, just wanted to point out WebODM (Drone Mapping Software - WebODM), which is open source (there's a paid installer for Windows, but people can also install it from GitHub for free). There's no sharing functionality as of today, but it's a feature that is in the works, see Ability to share task datasets · Issue #155 · OpenDroneMap/WebODM · GitHub

Hmm, I went to try this out and you can't get through to the servers. I emailed the director and got this response:

"We are in the process of moving to a new server in order to accept more users. There are some unforeseen problems which we are trying our best to solve as soon as possible.

We should be open up for new sign up in a couple of weeks. I will let you know personally once our new server is live and available to accept new sign up."

I'll advise when it's up.
