Yes and no Manuel says no others say that charger gets hot

Looks like the discussion beat my input. It's not in any of the manuals. In fact, the quick start manual would indicate that it's expected.

I did. It didn't get any hotter than the battery alone.

Nevertheless, the RC needs charging so rarely that it's easy enough to charge them separately.

I bought my Phantom 3 Pro in January 2016 and in the Instruction Booklet ) Phantom 3 Intelligent Flight Battery ( On the last page # 4 Under Notice- Battery use instruction Line
# 2 for Phantom 3 Professional or Phantom Advanced user,s it is recommended that you Do Not Charge the Intelligent Flight Battery and the Remote at the same time. I bought me a second charger just for the single use charges from Best Buy in April
