So I just got a phantom 1.1.1 last week. I have taken it on a few test flights and I finally decided to attach my gopro to it using the mount that came with the phantom. I noticed in the video that there's a really bad vibration. Is this normal?

It's not unusual, but you can minimise it by flying smoothly as making the motors work harder increases it.
Perhaps use ATTI mode for important filming - which will be difficult on windy days.
You can look at balancing the props too, this can really help a lot sometimes.
After that think about some kind of extra mount with damping.
