I "locked down" my P2V+ firmware version last summer/fall - I don't have the version info handy, but it was the release prior to a significant DJI release that included a new DJI battery firmware update.

If I purchase new batteries from DJI, will they be backwards compatible with my older P2V+ firmware, or would I be required to upgrade my P2V+ firmware in order to use the new batteries?

From my understanding DJI quit making firmware changes to the batteries. I have four batteries and the are mixed firmwares. So if the battery is the correct type for your plane there would be no issues with it working.

Just make sure you buy a V2+ battery, not the V3 battery. That one has a higher voltage.
