Arris CM2000 ground wire..needed?

I am using a Arris cm200 gimbal and noticed today that the ground wire had come off the connection plug. Thing is, the gimbal still works fine. It must be getting ground through the Naza. Any ides if this is hurting anything or can I leave it unattached?

I talked to Arris and they said the ground wire to the cm2000 is not needed and can be removed is using the power out wire on the stock nazza.
