While watching youtube on installation of these, why cant the 3 original wires be left on the controller and the new ones from the extender be spliced, or is that not good, seems the original connectors would be better than scrapping off glue.
 
Because they aren't just wires, they're small shielded coaxial cables, which have a center lead and an outside braided shield. You can't just splice them.

Actually, you can splice them. I used to splice coax all the time. But in this case you'll likely create an impedance mismatch and attenuate your signal.

Every location along a cable containing a coupling, splice, or connector will introduce losses.

So, given the reason for doing this in the first place is to boost performance, not introduce losses, it's fair to summarise that the previous reply was in fact correct right?
 
Bottom line yes you can splice no you shouldn't
