Apple DJI app question

Hi, I'm a Android guy and never owned a Apple product before. I just picked up a ipad mini 3 really cheap and wanted to try it. For my own reasons I do not want to update the birds firmware on my Phantom 3 Standard. If I install the DJI app on the ipad will it force an automatic firmware update on the bird? Right now I just ignore the firmware update message on the android tablet. Thanks!

No. Firmware updates are always optional.

Yes, same as your Android, it tells you updates are required.
